Banco de Credito Headquarters
Containing 530,000 sq. ft. (49, 300 sq. m.) in five levels, the levels are connected by the main lobby, a dramatic elliptical glass block atrium that traverses the entire building. The headquarters compound includes banking and trading floors, 350 seat acoustically sound auditorium, computer center, and other facilities for the staff. Public areas are separated from the bank facility as volumes that slide through the building's 30 ft. (9 m.) high ground floor colonnade.
The complex was conceived as a monumental and abstract version of a traditional Spanish courtyard structure, with a square building surrounding and framing jutting stone formations and Inca ruins within the courtyard. A portion of the building is removed to allow the mountains to continue into the central space, allowing an expanded view from many of the offices. Designed by Arquitectonica, the outer skin is comprised of strips of blue glass and black marble, with the courtyard skin made of irregularly cut native pink slate with random cut windows. |
